Priyanka Chopra, bigtime Bollywood superstar turned Hollywood phenomenon, did India proud today by taking home the people’s choice award for “Favourite Actress in a New TV Series” for her role as an FBI agent in the thrilling new series, Quantico. She is the first ever South Asian Hollywood TV actress to win this award, making the win that much sweeter.
Chopra beat out other talented stars such as Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Marcia Gay Harden, and Jamie Lee Curtis, who were amongst her in the category for the award. She graciously accepted the award, alongside John Stamos, and followed with a heart warming speech. Taking the time to thank those that voted for Quantico, she also goes on to express her gratitude as she says “It is my first year in the US, and to come to another country and actually get this kind of acceptance is, I guess, what America is all about”. She thanks her mom, her manager, and many others that helped her get this far, and also took to Twitter to express how fortunate she really is.
We expect many more great achievements to come for Priyanka Chopra, as her Hollywood debut has already received recognition, there is no telling what she has in store for the future.
