Niki was overwhelmed with the love and support she had received once posting this. She has gotten over a hundred comments and shares, while many have written supportive messages towards Sharma on their own Facebook pages as well.

Sharma was the former park board commissioner, making history by being the first candidate with an Indian surname to have been elected to the Vancouver park board. She is also a trained lawyer, and was placed 17th out of 49 candidates for the 10 seat Vancouver city council.

While it is sad to see racism and ignorance still alive in todays day and age, the amount of love and support Sharma has received in response has restored some faith in humanity.
